Are you looking for an opportunity to provide excellent care to our patients?
An opportunity has arisen within the portering department at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust for a general porter to join our team at Lister Hospital.
You will have a polite and responsive approach to patients, visitors, and staff, with the ability to work a rotating shift pattern to meet the needs of our service.
Previous experience in a hospital or customer-focused role is desirable but not essential as full training is given.

Main duties of the job
1. Move patients by bed, wheelchairs, and trolleys.
2. Change medical gases.
3. Collect blood products.
4. Take specimens to the pathology lab.
5. Take deceased to the mortuary.
6. Be familiar with appropriate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
7. Take reasonable care of yourself and anybody who may be affected by your actions/non-actions.
8. Co-operate with the Trust in maintaining suitable standards of Health and Safety.
9. Report all unsafe situations, incidents, and accidents to your supervisor or Manager.
10. Participate in training as appropriate.
11. Any other duties as appropriate to the grade that may be determined from time to time.

Previous Experience
* Previous experience of working in a related field.
Skills / Ability / Knowledge
* Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate at all levels.
* Must have the ability to remain positive and constructive even under pressure.
* Must be confident in giving advice to service users and able to deal calmly and effectively with complaints.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
Qualifications/Training
* English language & maths to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Willingness to undertake training necessary for the role.
* Qualifications credits framework (QCF) or NVQ level 2.
