Bedford Citizens Housing Association, BCHA, is housing and care provider in Bedford. BCHA has a vacancy for Catering Assistants to work in our busy kitchen at Bedford Charter House. Shift times are between 07:00 – -20:00. This is a varied role that will include all aspects of the catering department, including serving of meals to residents & tenants and kitchen operations. This is a vital role within our department, ensuring that the high standards we set are met at all times and we continue to operate at the level five hygiene standards. No previous catering experience in needed as full training is provided. To prepare the dining room and associated areas so to comply with the standards set. To adhere to rota as set out by your manager. To undertake all allocated cleaning duties for the kitchen and dining room areas following the cleaning schedule set by the Catering Manager Assist in maintaining the general cleanliness of the kitchen To complete records if required. To communicate with residents and care staff politely and helpfully. To deal with any resident requests promptly and appropriately. To report any complaints to the relevant party so that they can be acted on promptly. Health and Safety To ensure all tasks carried out meet home health, hygiene, quality and safety standards and comply with the Safe Food Act 1995. Communicate details of any accidents to the most senior member of the catering team on duty so that the correct action may be taken. Building Relationships To promote the idea of customer care so that you work well within your team and so that a professional image is promoted to residents and care staff. Occasional Duties To undergo training courses and attend company meetings when necessary. To be prepared to change work methods, patterns or departments to help ensure the smooth running of the department. To carry out any reasonable management request. To work reasonable amounts of overtime provided notice is given. Any other duties or variations to the above that may be reasonably required from time to time.
