An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Critical Care team working at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are currently looking for motivated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our specialist multi-disciplinary team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our dedicated Critical Care workforce, where we are motivated by innovation, the desire to make a difference and our passion for patient focused care.
Completion of Step Competencies 1, 2 and 3 is necessary for this role.
All successful candidates will benefit from an orientation and induction programme supported by our dedicated Critical Care Educators. Staff follow an education pathway which is competency based, using the Critical Care National Competency Framework including Step 4 competencies.
Main duties of the job
* To assess, plan, implement and evaluate high quality individualised care based on best practice principles.
* Education of junior members of the team and students undertaking practice placements.
* Acting as an assessor as per NMC guidance.
* Work in liaison with the senior management team to ensure the highest standards of patient care are met.
* Actively participate in the redevelopment of guidance and policy.
* To work towards shift coordination responsibilities with the support of the team.
* Continue to develop and build a theoretical knowledge base for the care of patients with acute physiological disturbances.

Job responsibilities
* To consolidate professional practice and previous skills and knowledge gained, utilising them to support with patient care and the wider team.
* To provide clinical support, advice and education that ensures each individual patient receives a standard of care acceptable to the patient and within the agreed Department protocols and is delivered by appropriately skilled persons within the resources available.
* Promote consistency and continuity of high-quality patient focused care.
* Assist and support Senior Nursing Team.
* Supervise junior staff, engaging them in training and supporting student nurses/care support workers to develop their skills and knowledge.
* Responsible for the accurate assessment of individual care needs and implementation of treatments.
* Work together with the management/professional development team to create your own personalised development plan with unit and individual objectives and agreed time frames.
* Gain the ability to act up as a shift coordinator within 2 years of being in post in order to support when needed.

Education and qualifications
Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse.
* Relevant post graduate critical care course.
* Mentorship supervisors and assessors course.
* ILS.
Desirable
* ALS/EPALS/PILS
* Degree qualification or working towards.
* Masters level qualification in a pertinent subject.
Experience and knowledge
Essential
* Significant, relevant clinical experience within critical care.
* Knowledge and understanding of the current policy and issues in professional practice, compliance, professional standards, and wider NHS.
* Knowledge of quality and service improvement.
* Knowledge of safeguarding adults/children, including the mental health act and mental capacity act, and deprivation of liberty safeguards.
* Knowledge of information governance/data protection requirements.
* Demonstrates clinical credibility.
Desirable
