SEMH Teaching Assistant – Grade 7
Term Time only (34 hours per week 39 weeks per year)

Oakfield Short Stay Primary School is a 30 place SEMH pupil referral unit for Leicestershire County Council. As a member of our team, you will be committed to supporting high quality, inclusive provision and be able to share your skills, expertise, and knowledge within our setting. You will be working within a team to contribute to the teaching and learning of our school and lead small group activities and 1:1 support as directed by the class teacher.
About You
To apply for this post, you must:
We are looking for practitioners who have:
1. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in teaching and learning
2. GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language
3. Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a primary school, primary pupil referral unit or primary special school
4. Experience of working with pupils who present with challenging social, emotional and mental health needs
5. Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice
6. Experience in liaising with parents/carers and working with external agencies
7. Resilience and a sense of humour!
