The Vacancy
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Metrology or NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Technician to join our growing team in Coventry.

Main responsibilities
* Perform dimensional inspection using some or all of the following equipment (training will be provided where skills gaps exist):
o CMM programming (Quindos, Modus, Polyworks).
o X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) (VGStudioMAX).
o GOM structured light scanners (GOM Inspect).
o Leica Laser Trackers AT960 T-Probe & ATS600 (Polyworks, SpatialAnalyzer).
o Romer scan arms.
o Surface roughness inspection using Alicona & Sensofar machines.
* Maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others in line with MTC Health & Safety procedures.
* Adhere to working processes, route cards and work instructions.
* Train colleagues and supervise apprentices in Metrology Lab processes and techniques.
* Care for Metrology Lab equipment, including some preventative maintenance.
* Support manufacturing engineers in creating cost estimates, lead times and route cards.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
* Support various activities required for the running of the Metrology Lab, for example arranging OEM maintenance, calibration for equipment, ordering consumables, supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment etc.
Person Specification
This position will suit a multitude of backgrounds and experience. If you have a background and experience in any of the following areas, we’d be interested in speaking with you:
* At least 2 years’ experience using X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) scanner and VGStudioMAX post processing software.
* Knowledge and experience using other NDT technologies such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), X-ray Back Scatter (XBS), Ultra Sonic (UT) and related post processing software.
* At least 6 years’ experience in dimensional metrology in one or more of the following technologies: CMM, laser trackers, structured light scanner, measurement arm or surface finish equipment. Examples of desirable dimensional metrology software packages include: Quindos, Polyworks, Modus, SpatialAnalyzer, GOM Inspect & MountainsMap.
Experience working with GD&T drawings both 2D & 3D and understanding of coordinate systems and alignment techniques is required.
