Carrier Manager Location: Leeds or Doncaster Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Our client is seeking a Carrier Manager, who will be responsible for overseeing carrier operations to ensure the smooth and efficient transportation of goods. You'll be collaborating closely with internal teams and external carriers to schedule, track, and deliver shipments in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsibilities include coordinating with carriers, monitoring transportation performance, updating shipment records, and resolving issues that arise during transit. Their ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator capable of managing internal and external relationships. Main Responsibilities: Carrier Coordination: Coordinate with carriers to schedule pick-up and delivery times, ensuring shipments are dispatched on time Collaborate with the Operations Manager and CI & Stock team to ensure all dispatched volume is collected within required time slots Provide forecasts to carriers for peak periods Carrier Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, maintaining clear and consistent communication Address and resolve issues or delays with carriers promptly to minimise supply chain disruptions Manage shipment-related issues, such as delays, damages, or incorrect deliveries, ensuring quick resolution Partner with carriers to efficiently resolve problems, minimising impact on customers and internal operations Work with customer service teams to address and resolve shipping-related complaints or concerns Cost Control and Budgeting Support: Assist in monitoring transportation costs to ensure cost-effective delivery of shipments Identify opportunities for cost savings by optimising carrier options and improving shipment processes Ensure all shipments are routed per established procedures to prevent unnecessary costs or delays Process and file carrier invoices, verifying billing accuracy against agreed-upon rates and terms Carrier Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate carrier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, accuracy, and costs Support the review of carrier contracts and performance evaluations to maintain service quality Provide management with feedback on carrier performance and identify areas for improvement Communicate potential delays or issues with internal teams to ensure all parties are informed Customer Coordination: Work with customer service teams to meet delivery expectations Assist in resolving delivery issues that impact customer satisfaction Previous experience and skills: Strong communication skills across all methods of interaction Excellent organisational and time management abilities Ability to prioritise tasks effectively in line with business needs Meticulous attention to detail Proficiency in Excel and analytical tools Strong planning and problem-solving skills Sure Commercial Limited (trading as Sure Exec Search) is a proud Equal Opportunities employer and does not discriminate against any candidate on the grounds of age, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnerships, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
