We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team in the UK rail industry. As a Commercial Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the commercial team, ensuring the smooth execution of contracts, assisting with cost management, and contributing to the financial success of various rail projects. Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of contracts, ensuring compliance with commercial terms and conditions.
2. Support the tracking of project costs, budgets, and expenditures. Assist in the analysis of cost performance and provide reports to ensure financial objectives are met.
3. Communicate with suppliers and clients to manage purchase orders, contract negotiations, and ensure timely payments and receipts.
4. Maintain up-to-date records and assist in preparing financial and commercial reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
5. Assist the procurement team in sourcing materials and services required for rail projects, including preparing purchase orders and tracking deliveries.
6. Help identify potential commercial risks and propose strategies to mitigate them. Ensure that project risks are managed in line with company policies.
7. Support the processing of supplier invoices and ensure that payments are made in line with contractual terms.
8. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the finance department to ensure all commercial activities align with project objectives.
9. Ensure that all commercial processes adhere to industry regulations, legal requirements, and company standards.
Required Skills:
1. Strong analytical and numerical skills.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
4. Familiarity with project management software and financial systems is advantageous.
Preferred Skills:
1. Experience or knowledge of the UK rail industry, including understanding of Network Rail and its suppliers.
2. Familiarity with rail safety standards and compliance requirements.
