Job summary The successful candidate will work in the newly created General Internal Medicine Directorate. For entry to the Specialty Doctor grade, applicants must have at least four years of post- registration training, of which at least two years must be in a specialty training programme in General Internal Medicine, or must be able to demonstrate comparable skills and competencies Main duties of the job The postholder is expected to work on the middle grade tier within the General Internal Medicine wards and provide the relevant expertise and experience necessary to ensure the efficient day-to- day clinical care of general medical patients throughout their pathway, including within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units environment as well as within the community within the Intensive Home Support Service, working in partnership with other members of the multi- disciplinary team and under Consultant supervision and guidance. They will also be expected to provide supervision to the junior members of the team.
