The Opportunity
The position is for an Associate Environmental Consultant to be based in an office in our North geography and to help win and deliver impact assessments for projects across the UK, in particular for major national infrastructure in the offshore wind renewables sector. We are looking for an environmental professional to join our team and direct our efforts in the Offshore Wind renewables sector, focusing on the major cross-cutting environmental agenda and helping to embed environment and sustainability into the projects we deliver. Clients will include private developers and other organisations and you will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment alongside other environmental, planning, engineering and urban design specialists (both internal and external to Arup) to deliver high quality environmental consultancy services.
Your remit will be to undertake technical work, develop client relationships as well as assist with proposal preparation and marketing activities. Help to win work, and grow our business in major national infrastructure, with a focus on the offshore wind renewables sector. Meet clients and collaborators, help with business development and work-winning, manage and produce bids, client submissions and presentations. Manage projects, oversee delivery of good quality work on time and within budget, managing client relationships on projects, ensuring projects are delivered within the parameters of the Arup Management System. Help influence our clients and stakeholders to ensure that we build a prosperous, low carbon, more equitable future, in line with the Arup values and the UN sustainable development goals.
Is this role right for you?
We are interested in the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
1. Education to degree level, preferably a Master’s degree, in a related topic.
2. Member of an appropriate professional body – this could include the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent. Chartered Environmentalist status is advantageous.
3. Established EIA/DCO project knowledge on energy projects.
4. Knowledge of developing clients and securing work.
5. Knowledge of steering the writing of reports, producing strong PowerPoint presentations.
