An opportunity has arisen to come and work with our forward-thinking, award-winning Maternity team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a friendly cohesive team that puts women and people who birth at the centre of our care and embrace partnership working. We are looking for an Inpatient Maternity Matron.
As a Trust, we are one maternity service across four clinical sites and community. This role would involve working at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, although cross-site working will be required in order to offer a cohesive service.
We deliver over 5,000 babies per year across the two sites of Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will, in conjunction with the Head of Midwifery, Director of Midwifery, and Clinical Leads for Inpatient Maternity Services, provide Professional and Managerial leadership across the maternity service at PRH, ensuring a high-quality service for maternity care within available resources.
The Matron will be an integral member of the management team supporting the Division in the delivery of key performance targets.
The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day management of staff within the inpatient Maternity services on a 24-hour basis. The postholder will provide professional leadership, advice, and support to Midwives, doctors, and support workers, acting as a clinical expert and as a resource for all staff within the service.
The postholder will ensure that maternity care is delivered by competent and confident practitioners according to Trust policies and procedures, through clinical supervision.
The postholder will ensure that Health and Safety regulations, legal and personnel requirements regarding working conditions for staff within the Maternity Service are adhered to. Also, responsible for Clinical Governance and Risk Management targets.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Midwifery to implement strategies for workforce planning.
The postholder will support the Head of Midwifery to provide expert Midwifery advice at Trust level regarding incidents, complaints, and legal issues.
