Shiplake College is seeking to recruit a Housemaster/Housemistress to provide outstanding pastoral support for a vibrant girls' sixth form boarding house. They will act in loco parentis, providing for the safety, good discipline and pastoral well-being of all pupils in the house. The Housemaster/Housemistress is responsible for efficiently managing the staffing, organisation and resources of the house. Teaching experience and qualifications in any subject will be considered.
Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for around 540 pupils aged 11 to 18. There has been a co-educational Sixth Form since 1998 and in September 2023 girls joined in Year 7, as we look to the future as fully co-educational. Full, weekly or flexi boarding is offered to all pupils from Year 9 to Year 13 and currently around 30% of our pupils board. The Housemaster/Housemistresses takes responsibility for the pastoral care and development of all the pupils in their house and is supported by a Deputy Housemaster/Housemistress, a House Pastoral Leader and a dedicated team of tutors.
