We have a new role for a Project Engineering Manager based in Cumbria with our Client within the Nuclear Industry.
Role Description:
We are looking for a Candidate with extremely strong management skills who can be a vigorous leader and hold the team to account. An individual who can challenge and direct the team on actual priorities and technologies proposed over a pragmatic ALARP perspective. A holistic thinker who can give direction, manage and control scope, driving outcomes and objectives.
The individual must have knowledge and experience of the Design Lifecycle and the suite of documents/deliverables for this. A person who can use stakeholder skills and has the ability to negotiate when required, who can inspire a team, and seeks advantages in communications to team and the wider project arena.
As there is a challenging and ambitious schedule, a resilient person is required who is prepared to be hands-on and engage with the problems/team.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Responsible for the Engineering Quality of the project delivery, ensuring compliance with client specifications and engineering standards. The role works alongside the Project Manager to ensure scope changes, time, and cost constraints are managed.
2. Responsible, in cooperation with Client Project Engineering Capability, for the technical quality of all conceptual designs, design schemes, detail drawings, and associated design documentation.
3. Maintains compliance with Engineering Standards and applicable legislation.
4. Participate in Design Reviews and, where appropriate, organise such reviews. Ensure that subsequent design meets the project requirements.
5. Maintain the technical capability of the delivery team, identify, and cover capability shortfalls.
6. Ensuring the confidentiality and security of data and information received from clients.
7. Ensuring the requirements of the Health & Safety of Work act, CDM, Machineries Directive, and the COSHH regulations are understood and complied with.
8. Liaise with the Project Management Team to ensure effective project delivery to time and cost.
9. Report to the Project Management Team when project risks have been realised.
Essential experience:
1. Experience working in a fast-paced project environment.
2. Familiar with working under NEC3 contracts.
3. Experience of SL working practices.
4. Experience of AXIOM Project Control Procedures.
5. Good working knowledge of CEMAR.
6. Can demonstrate strong communication skills.
Essential qualifications:
1. Educated to HNC / HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a chartered engineering & member of an appropriate institute.
2. Ability to obtain SC Security Clearance.
