2 Year Fixed Contract
We are seeking a full-time Visitor Services Assistant to join our team, delivering a first-class visitor experience at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury. The Museum re-opened in 2017 following a £2.4 million re-development which has created new learning and visitor facilities and refurbished gallery displays throughout the site.
Working with the Museums Operations Manager and Museum Manager, the post holder will be responsible for providing the highest standards of customer care – welcoming visitors to the museum, assisting with the security, maintenance and cleanliness of the site, assisting with events and helping with the museum shop.
A basic awareness of health and safety and premises issues is required, and you must be confident and comfortable with using computers and other technical equipment (e.g. tills). You should also have a genuine enthusiasm about Somerset’s history and heritage, and be keen to share this to inform and inspire our visitors.
Maximum flexibility, and the ability to work additional hours/overtime, sometimes at short notice, is essential.
The job will be based at Somerset Rural Life Museum, Abbey Farm, Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury BA6 8DB.
