An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Ventilation Inpatient Centre based on ward 6 as a band 6 Deputy Ward Nurse Manager/Team Leader on an 11-month secondment.
The Ventilation Inpatient Centre is a regional specialised unit which provides ventilatory support to the unwell adult. Currently, we are a ten-bedded unit with four designated beds for tracheal ventilation and six designated beds to enable the delivery of Non-Invasive Ventilation or CPAP to patients in acute respiratory failure.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an excellent nursing knowledge base, with clinical skills that include the ability to care for patients who require tracheal ventilation. Knowledge of Non-Invasive Ventilation/CPAP is also a must to assist you in leading the team to deliver high quality to the acutely unwell respiratory patient.
Main duties of the job
The post requires excellent leadership skills, extensive knowledge of Non-Invasive ventilation and tracheostomy management. You will be experienced within all areas of respiratory medicine and will hold a relevant mentorship qualification.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, team working skills, and will be dedicated to improving the patients' experience.
You will need to demonstrate continuing professional development and a strong sense of commitment to develop others and work closely within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in non-invasive ventilation is essential.
Applicants must be a 1st level nurse with evidence of at least 2 years of experience working at band 5 or previous experience at band 6.

Leadership
* Act as a role model and expert nurse providing in-depth highly specialist clinical knowledge to colleagues through MDT meetings, for patients and carers/relatives.

* Take the lead when required to develop and influence the development of practice/services in the clinical area through the business planning process/service development and in conjunction with Matron, General Manager, Lead Clinician, and Assistant Chief Nurse.
* Delegate work to match capabilities and workload of team members.
* Ensure that high standards of nursing care are given and maintained and act when standards are not being met.
* Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivery of care.
* Act as the patient's advocate and ambassador.
* Take the lead when required to develop patient-focused education and information.
* Recognise, prevent, and diffuse potential areas of conflict and where required take a key role in the management of the outcome.

* Registered Nurse, current NMC registration.
