Job Advertisement – Import Operator DSV Road Ltd
A position in the import department has become available at DSV Road Ltd. The person we are looking for must be self-driven, have good attention to detail, a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high job quality. The successful candidate will be dealing with import shipments and import customer services for general accounts and larger key account customers.
The applicant must be organized and punctual, able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure while keeping a cool head. We are looking for a person who can add extra quality to our already highly skilled team and can come up with alternative solutions to challenges and problems while working under pressure.
Main purpose of Job:
The person will work as part of the import team and arrange shipments from Europe to UK-based customers, using the existing DSV road-freight and distribution network across Europe, along with internal UK distribution and warehousing departments.
The role will involve communicating with the local DSV depots across the UK and Europe to ensure deliveries are done in accordance with our customers’ requirements. There will also be a degree of customer service involved with direct communication to the customer(s).
Additionally, there will be various other ad hoc administrative tasks such as POD handling and following up on customer inquiries/questions.
Responsibilities include:
1. Communicate effectively in a professional manner with customers to ensure their traffic requirements are fulfilled in line with their booking instructions.
2. Receive bookings from UK importers either via our online booking platform or by e-mail.
3. Contact delivery locations in the UK to book in deliveries.
4. Instruct UK Warehouse and Distribution teams for loading/offloading of cargo to vehicles using our Transport Management System.
5. Liaise with other DSV offices in the UK and abroad, reporting any discrepancies or specific requirements.
6. Ensure legislative compliance in all areas.
7. Ensure that the company operates within all agreed operational procedures and statutory requirements, including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.
8. Perform and correctly implement General Administration tasks, e.g., invoicing, filing, queries, claims, POD handling.
9. Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers, suppliers, and other offices as required by operational procedures.
