Llety Newydd is a continuing health care unit, which provides long-term care to patients who still require hospital provision based in the Cardiff Area.
The team comprises of a unit manager, deputy, registered nurses and health care support workers. In addition to this, the team will work alongside the inpatient multi-disciplinary team to work towards discharge to the community.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse to work in the Cardiff area.
The Registered Nurse will have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and complex health needs.
We provide specialist care for people with learning disabilities as part of Swansea Bay University Health Board's Mental Health and Learning Disability Delivery Unit. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a seven day service, which includes working weekends, nights and bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
You will manage the ward for a span of duty and liaise with the MDT to deliver specialist healthcare to meet the needs of the patients.
You will act as Primary nurse for a small group of individuals and adhere to legislative frameworks.
You will promote equality for all service users through anti-discriminatory practice, supporting individuals' rights, choices, beliefs and identity and by supporting individuals through effective communication.
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with challenging behaviour and experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
