To lead and manage the clinical team and patient services at ward level. To develop clear systems to ensure the delivery of family centred care which is evidence based and tailored to patient need. Main Duties and Responsibilities Assume site specific responsibility for the day to day nursing management of Neonatal Unit/Special Care Baby Unit. In partnership with senior management team ensure clinical governance objectives are met in terms of audit, managing complaints, incidents, risk, patient feedback, benchmarking, and data collection including national audits. Use effective management and leadership skills in the operational management of the neonatal inpatient service. Manage the ward withresponsibility for workforce planning, managing sickness absence, recruitment and selection, professional development and performance review of the team. Responsible for ensuring spending is within ward budget. Take responsibility for clinical environment ensuring that high standards of cleanliness and infection control are met and that appropriate action is taken. Act as a role model in clinical practice working within the clinical areas to maintain professional competence and credibility in Neonatal nursing. Adhere at all times to the NMC professional code of conduct maintaining own professional development and personal development plan. Contribute to the service through communicating the Divisional and Trust strategies and visibly supporting trust and corporate policies and systems. Participate in paediatric education and training within the Trust. Act as a resource providing expert paediatric advice to support the continued development of the service. Develop clinical practice and promote safe, evidence based, quality paediatric care. Respond to and manage complaints with support from the clinical manager and complaints department.
