Duties:
* Strategic leadership and direction to the engineering team
* Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering staff
* Establish clear goals and objectives for the engineering team
* Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and facilities
* Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to support manufacturing operations and process improvements
* Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to pharmaceutical manufacturing
* Ensure all engineering activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Health and Safety regulations, and other relevant guidelines
* Participate in regulatory inspections and audits
* Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements within the engineering department
* Lead or support engineering projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing capabilities, implementing new technologies, or upgrading existing infrastructure/equipment etc.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and measure the impact of improvement initiatives
* Develop and manage the engineering department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support business objectives
* Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and make recommendations for investment in new equipment, technology upgrades, or facility expansions
* Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers
Skills/Qualifications:
* Leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on engineering and manufacturing operations
* Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP, FDA, MHRA).
* project management skills and ability to manage senior stakeholders
* Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in engineering/manufacturing
* Either a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant practical work expertise in a similar position
