Apprentice Electrician
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Apprentice Electrician to join our team and specialise in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure for high-voltage and low-voltage renewable energy projects. This apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and build a rewarding career in the renewable energy sector.
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will work alongside experienced professionals to learn how to design, install, and maintain electrical systems that are essential to renewable energy generation, including wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Electrical Installation: Assist in the installation and wiring of electrical systems for high-voltage and low-voltage renewable energy infrastructure, ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety standards and project specifications.
2. System Design Support: Work closely with senior engineers to assist in the design and development of electrical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and comply with industry regulations.
3. Testing & Commissioning: Support the testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems and components to ensure they function efficiently and safely.
4. Maintenance & Repairs: Assist in the ongoing maintenance and repair of electrical systems in renewable energy projects, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
5. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and industry best practices, maintaining a high standard of safety in all tasks.
6. Learning & Development: Take part in on-the-job training, technical workshops, and formal classroom-based learning to develop your knowledge and skills in electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
7. Documentation: Assist in the preparation of electrical schematics, installation plans, and reports, ensuring accurate documentation of all work completed.
8. Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.
Skills and Experience:
Educational Qualifications:
* GCSEs or equivalent (ideally including Mathematics, English, and Science at grade C or above).
* A keen interest in electrical engineering and renewable energy systems.
Skills and Experience:
* Basic understanding of electrical systems (preferably from previous work experience or education).
* Enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainability.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
* Willingness to learn and develop skills in electrical design, installation, and maintenance.
Desirable but not essential:
* Experience or knowledge of working with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
* Familiarity with electrical safety protocols and regulations.
* A basic understanding of renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind, or battery storage.
