Associate Editor – Nature Climate Change
London, United Kingdom
Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit an Associate Editor for Nature Climate Change.
Nature Climate Change publishes high-quality papers concerned with all aspects of contemporary climate change, including its causes, impacts, and societal/policy implications. (For more information about the journal, see our website here).
We are interested in applicants with expertise in an area of physical climate science, particularly climate modelling or Earth system dynamics, but we would welcome applications from outstanding candidates in other areas of climate science. Candidates should have a PhD and preferably postdoctoral experience, with a strong research record.
The successful candidate will play an important role in determining the representation of their field in the journal, and will work closely with the other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, commissioning and editing of Reviews and News & Views, and writing for the journal. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences.
This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating position. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are prerequisites. The successful candidate must, therefore, be dynamic and outgoing and have excellent interpersonal skills.
The position will be based in our London office, although there is scope for exceptional candidates to be based in New York or Shanghai after training.
Applicants should send: a CV; a concise discussion (maximum 800 words) of recent developments in climate change research which you have found particularly exciting (stating why); and a brief covering letter detailing their salary expectations and explaining why they think they are suitable for the position.
