Job Nature and Scope: You will work as part of a team, or as a lone worker, in the Services geographical area, with a base location of Gatwick Airport, carrying out Electrical Vehicle Charger Installations including relevant commissioning and testing, and a full range of duties associated with LV electrical install and testing and inspection of HV and LV substations. LV testing to the current (18th) Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, along with relevant inspections. Job Purpose: A vacancy exists for an Electrician to work as part of a team carrying out the full range of electrical works including installation, commissioning and testing of Electric Vehicle Chargers, LV supplies, feeder pillars and street lighting infrastructure. A major element is the contracted 18th Edition electrical testing of UKPN Services LV supplies. Also to undertake safety inspections within LV and HV substations. Dimensions: No direct reports or financial budget responsibilities. Although based at the site above working on the Gatwick Airport campus you will develop your skills and authorisations to work on any future projects within UKPN Services. Principal Accountabilities Installing, Commisioning and Testing of Electric Vehicle Chargers, both domestic and office compounds. Inspection & Non-Intrusive Diagnostic Testing of all plant and apparatus associated with the LV Distribution network Fault location, repair and maintenance of assets within the LV Distribution network Perform Installations, testing and Inspections in compliance with the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 and City & Guilds 2391, 2394 and 2395 requirements. Use of Hand Held IT equipment Oversee Maintenance/Project/Sub Contract staff within their working party Assist team with other maintenance and project based work Routine emergency lighting checks and remedial works. To be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies etc as determined by your skills and experience Complete the additional site visits to provide the requirements of the ESQC Regulations Substation cleaning, maintenance and vegetation removal HV and LV meter reading Ensure that all staff for which they are responsible work to the Distribution Safety Rules and to demonstrate a strong safety culture. Qualifications: The following skills and attributes are important to this role: Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship/training i.e. AM2. Qualified to City and Guilds 2357, 2394, 2395 and 2391 or equivalent. Qualified to City and Guilds 2921 Level 3 Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. Knowledge of electrical distribution an advantage. Willingness to learn on the job. An understanding of the Electricity at Work Regs. Trained in First Aid. Awareness of the policies relating to Health & Safety. Full UK driving licence required. Integrate well in a team and promote good team work. Security clearance for client infrastructure access (5 year traceable work history) Work and integrate as part of a small team committed to the delivery of a high profile project. A good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation. Be computer literate to undertake data input onto the hand held devices.
