Job Title: CNC Machinist Cylindrical Grinder
Location: Cross Hills
Hours/Contract: Full-time (37 hours per week), permanent
Reports To: Machine Shop Manager
Scope of the Role: As part of a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands-on role, responsible for producing parts to fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Be highly involved in contributing to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design, through machining to delivery.
2. Producing complex components according to specification requirements.
3. Working from and understanding engineering drawings.
4. Working and measuring to very tight tolerances.
5. Applying knowledge of materials and machining methods.
6. Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
7. Experience working on bespoke parts to stringent geometric tolerances.
8. Understand and work at all times in line with client Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
9. Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
10. Foster RFT mindset.
Technical Competencies Required:
1. Operating CNC cylindrical Studer machines. External/Internal Grinding.
2. Proving out on CNC cylindrical Studer machines. External/Internal Grinding.
3. Programming (Studer Win), Setting components, grinding wheels, jigs, fixtures, chucks and working between centres.
4. Working and measuring to very tight tolerances (within 5 Micron range).
5. Ability to use metrology equipment.
6. Interpretation of engineering drawings.
7. Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
8. 4-year time served apprenticeship certification.
