KMPT are recruiting 2 Medical Education UG Fellows - Trust Grade ST4-ST7 Trainee Doctor
A full-time post (40 Hours) is available as well as a 2nd post which can be part-time from 2 days (16 hours) per week up to full time depending on the successful candidate's preference. The post is a 12-month fixed term Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from 06/08/2025 to 04/08/2026.
The post holder will be expected to attend various locations in Kent for meetings, teaching sessions and events but the base of the post can be flexible to suit the appointed candidate.
This Medical Education Fellowship Post is hosted by Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). The fellowship role is created to support Undergraduate workstreams concerning Medical Student Psychiatry Placements taking place at KMPT. The medical students we receive are linked to Medical Schools: King's College London School of Medicine (GKT), Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS).
Funding for a Postgraduate Qualification in Education will be available to the appointed candidate to undertake in the year.

Main duties of the job
This post is designed to support ST4-7s who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career. The 12-month ‘out of programme experience’ (OOPE) post, based at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust, is aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience, develop expertise in educational theory and practice, and undertake supervised educational research.
The post holder will have a designated educational mentor who will oversee their development as an educator during the placement and coordinate opportunities for personal development. A customised programme of training and educational experience will be designed around the needs of the individual.
Although an enthusiasm for teaching is a prerequisite, no assumptions will be made about formal knowledge of educational theory or practice. Hands-on teaching will be central to the post, as will a critical engagement with educational issues around providing undergraduate and postgraduate training in a changing context, both nationally and locally.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
POST DESCRIPTION
The Fellowship includes these components:
1. Teaching: The post holder will have a regular schedule of teaching commitments and will actively contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust’s undergraduate education programme for Medical Students.
2. Educational Research and QI: The post holder will have the opportunity to take part in a range of educational research activities and QI Projects.
3. Clinical commitment: A clinical commitment of 1 day per week with the Trust will ensure that the post holder maintains their clinical involvement during the attachment.
4. Learning about Medical Education Structures and Roles: The post holder will attend the Trust Medical Education Committee meetings.
5. Simulation: Support with simulation training delivered face to face at teaching events.
Clinical duties
Within the Medical Education department, the candidate will be part of an enthusiastic and dynamic multi-professional team including Consultants, trainees and other clinicians.
Contribution to an out of hours tier 2 on-call rota will be expected for section 12 approved doctors.
RESPONSIBILITY: The post holder will be part of the Medical Education team and will carry out various projects/roles to support the education, training and improved experience of our medical student doctors.
Appraisal and Supervision
The Director of Undergraduate Medical Education will supervise the Fellow, with one hour per week regular supervision including setting objectives and agreeing a personal development plan.
ENVIRONMENT:
Driving licence essential: The post holder is required to be flexible and to travel where necessary across KMPT sites.
