Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years.
Role: The Technical Operator supports our Production Technicians with tool changes when machines are waiting in order to reduce production down time and improve departmental OEE. The Technical Operator also undertakes Production Operator tasks as required.
Working hours: This is a Monday - Friday role working on a 3 shift rotational basis, covering Days, Nights and Afters.
06:00am - 14:00pm / 14:00pm - 22:00pm / 22:00pm - 06:00am
Responsibilities:
1. Support Production Technicians with setting of injection mould tools and machine change over preparation.
2. Preparation for mould tool changes, including collection of mould tools from racking, selection of tool cylinders and water/oil pipes.
3. Completion of mould tool changes in accordance with agreed standards & SSW.
4. Basic machine operation (cores off/on, open/close, mould safety, heel blocks).
5. Knocker bar connection.
6. Cleaning of tool back plates and machine platens.
7. Support with product colour changes and end of run machine shutdown ensuring the barrel is purged through.
8. Storage of mould tools after removal from the machine press.
9. Use of Barco to ensure that relevant stop codes are used to report machine status.
10. Completion of production Operator activities including packing, quality checks, product booking, and product transfer:
11. Carry out visual quality checks on manufactured components in accordance with Polypipe Terrain quality plan/standards.
12. Packing of manufactured moulded products.
13. Operation of semi-automatic bagging equipment.
14. Use of appropriate MHE for movement of materials and stock (if trained and approved to do so).
15. Booking of finished products on IFS.
16. Ensure all agreed Safe Systems of Work are followed at all times for relevant tasks and report near misses or safety concerns in order to prevent potential accidents.
17. Ensure that high levels of housekeeping are maintained with the factory areas, including cleaning of machines and floor areas.
18. Ensure all waste products are separated into their designated containers ready for disposal.
Requirements:
1. Experience of working within an Injection Moulding team.
2. Reliable.
3. Capable of working within a high demand, fast paced manufacturing environment.
4. Ability to use appropriate MHE (including crane) for product, tooling and consumable transfers.
