About the Role As an Academic SEN Assistant, you will provide targeted academic support to students with Special Educational Needs across a variety of subjects, helping them to achieve their personal and academic goals. You will work closely with the teaching staff to implement tailored strategies and assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and supported. Responsibilities of the Academic SEN Assistant: Provide academic support to students with SEN in both individual and small group settings. Adapt teaching materials and resources to accommodate students' specific learning requirements. Work collaboratively with teachers to monitor and track student progress. Help students develop study skills and encourage a positive learning attitude. Implement individualised plans for students, including strategies outlined in EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans). Assist students with social, emotional and behavioural challenges, promoting positive behaviour and well-being. Support the learning process both in the classroom and in less structured environments (e.g., break times, school trips). Provide feedback to teachers and parents, offering insights into student development and suggesting adjustments to support their learning further. The successful candidate will: Previous experience working in an SEN setting is highly desirable. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-related qualifications, or equivalent) would be beneficial. A caring, patient and adaptable approach with the ability to engage students and encourage their participation. Strong communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with students, parents and staff. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop your own skills in the SEN field. Have profound knowledge about SEN and related concerning factors. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
