Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of MFL looking to develop your career in a supportive and innovative Trust? We offer an exciting opportunity for a colleague with the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students, sharing our primary goal of putting ‘Students First’. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.
With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.
At Outwood Academy Hindley, all pupils learn French and Spanish in year 7 through a carefully designed dual language programme, which pupils enjoy. At the end of year 7 they can either opt to continue with both languages, or specialise in one until the end of year 9. Pupils achieve well in both languages at GCSE, and the number who opt to continue with a language in years 10 and 11 is good. The department works collaboratively with regard to lesson planning and all aspects of teaching in order to ensure that every child achieves their potential. We offer a wide range of extra curricular activities including KS3 games club, MFL film club and KS4 revision. These clubs are well attended by pupils. We also ensure that other departments are involved with MFL through our European Week of Languages, which takes place every year in September and consists of a range of activities such as a bake off, quizzes, assemblies and competitions.
The successful candidate will be able to teach either French or Spanish to GCSE level and the other language to KS3, be passionate about all aspects of languages, a team player and willing to be fully involved in MFL activities beyond the classroom. A sense of humour is not essential, but is a bonus!
Outwood Academy Hindley provides excellent career progression and training for staff. OGAT is proud to be a part of the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) hosting its North and East campus as Outwood Academy Redcar and Outwood Academy Adwick. The NIoT identifies best practice in education, in order to develop cutting-edge, evidence-based teacher training and professional development programmes. OGAT colleagues benefit from the work of the institute, which draws on the expertise of some of the most outstanding school leaders in education today.
