As the Head of IT Infrastructure and Architecture, you will be responsible for overseeing and advancing our IT infrastructure and systems architecture. This includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-level IT solutions, ensuring that our IT environment is scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs. You will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of our technology landscape, driving digital transformation, and managing a high-performing IT team.
This role is pivotal to the successful management and daily running of the EMCOR UK wide IT estate.
• Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of IT infrastructure and architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure (including cloud services, networks, data centres, and end-user systems).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, Information Security, Business Systems, etc.) to ensure the infrastructure supports application needs and future growth.
• Manage the performance, availability, and capacity of all IT infrastructure systems, continuously improving operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements, particularly in areas of security, data protection, and disaster recovery.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and technological advancements to enhance system performance, security, and scalability.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
• Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, ownership and quality
• Strong leadership experience, including hiring and mentoring talent, skills evaluation, succession planning, skills development, and fostering a collaborative environment, ensuring productivity and engagement.
• Design and implement processes, policies, service levels, KPIs and standards for the organisation aligning with overall business strategy and objectives.
• Coordinate internal IT teams and other third-party support vendors to resolve complex issues in line with either major incident management or problem management principles.
• Provide leadership in driving forward new and existing IT department projects, demonstrating an ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines.
• In conjunction with the Head of Information Security deliver a comprehensive assurance framework for the technology environment, recognising the regulated nature of the business and parent organisation
• Engage in the change management process for all IT systems, ensuring proper planning, testing and communication of all proposed changes
• Develop and maintain IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans to minimise disruptions, ensuring the resilience of critical systems and operations, in the event of unforeseen incidents or emergencies.
• Own and proactively manage the Infrastructure licensing portfolio.
• Experience in vendor selection, management and contract negotiation for IT services, hardware, and software procurement.
• Develop and manage budgets for IT infrastructure projects and ongoing operations.

Person:
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure and architecture management, with a track record of successful leadership in large, complex environments.
• Strong technical expertise in areas such as cloud computing (MS Azure), data centres, networking, virtualization, and storage solutions.
• Deep understanding of systems architecture, infrastructure design principles, and enterprise IT systems.
• Strong communication skills, able to present complex technical information in an accessible manner to non-technical stakeholders and C-suite executives.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools, monitoring systems, and DevOps methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of IT security best practices, data protection regulations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A collaborator across all levels and willing to get stuck in when needed!
• Experience and knowledge of programme and project management, producing business cases through to delivering multiple projects
• Experience with end-to-end governance and structures required to ensure success within a fast-paced team and environment
• Good customer facing skills and stakeholder management.
