The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the provision of advice and guidance to Company management regarding the management of occupational health, safety, environmental and quality assurance issues reporting to the Operations Director.
More about the role:
* Provide support implementing and development of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
* Undertake regular quality assurance inspections of ongoing and, where required completed works and ensure that any identified issues are addressed appropriately.
* Ensure that all necessary records, inspection registers and safety reports are maintained and produce appropriate SHEQ statistics.
* Liaison with enforcing agencies, clients and other stakeholders including face to face and virtual meetings periodically.
* Liaise with managers to ensure compliance is being fulfilled and adapted where required
* Support accident/incident management and investigation processes, ensuring that investigations are of sufficient quality and lessons learned communicated.
* To support the cascading of relevant SHEQ information as required.
* Undertake regular quality assurance inspections of incoming and outgoing wastes to ensure legal compliance.
* Ensure waste facilities provided are suitable and fit for purpose.
* Assist in the collation of quarterly and annual returns to the Environment Agency.
* Report to customers, clients and internal stakeholders, relevant statistics required as per contracts and internal requirements i.e. monthly returns, SHEQ reports.
* Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
* Actively foster and promote a positive safety, health and environmental culture.
* Audit compliance with Company policies, procedures and legislation in line with ISO
About you
* NEBOSH Diploma (desirable) or NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Management (essential).
* Experience within the utilities industry
* Registered with Energy and Utility Skills Register (EUSR).
* EUSR SHEA (gas/other/multi-utility as required).
* SWQR Supervisor Certificate, Units 001 & 010-16
* Registered member of relevant institute (*Company support and will maintain IOSH)
* Relevant Management experience
* Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and build effective working relationships.
* Demonstrable experience of driving performance improvement.
* Committed to Continuous Personal Development and remaining up to date with current developments in the industry.
* Ability to motivate and mentor staff.
* Ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility when necessary and to work as a part of a team.
* Computer literate, with keyboard skills and experience of word processing and operation and use of spreadsheets.
* Driving Licence (valid for UK) (preferably clean)
