Job Description:
If you’ve got great attention to detail and want to run ½ million-pound machines, we’ve got a fantastic entry-level manufacturing programme for you! This Future Manufacturer Programme will give you the perfect start to a fulfilling career in the cable manufacturing industry.
About the company
Doncaster Cables is on a mission to grow its own talent through a brand-new Future Manufacturer Programme. You’ll spend approximately 18 months on the programme learning to operate and run different machines that produce the highest quality cables in Europe.
By teaching you how to use different tools and techniques in the factory, you’ll complete the programme with a thorough knowledge of production flows and how to operate multiple manufacturing machines. This grounding will make you better prepared to move into more senior roles in this family business over time.
The Programme
1. Stage 1: work across the factory to understand the production flow and various stages of manufacturing. This will be more of a 'work with' role rather than work alone.
2. Stage 2: Winding cable (manual process) working alone after initial training.
3. Stage 3: Testing cable in our laboratory.
4. Stage 4: Progression onto running more complicated machines across the factory - increasing responsibility for setting and quality checking.
The time spent on each stage will vary depending on your aptitude, speed of learning and interests. Do not worry though, you will be supported to learn the job at the right pace for you.
Person Specification:
This is a fantastic entry-level role for someone who wants to start a career in manufacturing, working for a highly respected company, making high-quality British-made products.

Training and support:
Whether you are applying for your first role or a career changer, Doncaster Cables will help the right candidates learn on the job and get up to speed with the machinery used on the shop floor.
You will be part of a group of new starters, all learning and supporting each other. You'll also be working with a colleague for the first few months of the role, who is there to support you with any questions or queries you have. In time, the company hopes people coming through the Future Manufacturing Programme will go on to more senior roles in the business.
