Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking to recruit innovative Band 6 midwives who are passionate about providing quality care to birthing families and are dedicated to providing evidence-based care. The post holder will work on a rotational basis alongside other acute areas of the women's centre.
Here in Oxfordshire, we offer women and healthcare professionals a unique set up of our Maternity Services where around 7500 babies are born annually. We have 4 stand-alone Midwifery Led Birth units within the county based at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford as well as offering home births to all areas. There is also an integrated birth unit where around 10% of birthing people choose to go in labour. As a large Tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe offers a large Delivery Suite with an en-suite birthing pool room, 3 Maternity theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward.
Please Note: This post is only for band 6 midwives, not newly qualified or International Educated midwives without prior UK midwifery experience.
Main Duties of the Job
This job is a rotational midwifery post between Fetal Medicine and other maternity areas within the trust. It is a great opportunity to work with a friendly, highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team, providing tertiary-level clinical care and support for women with complex pregnancies across Oxfordshire and the Fetal Medicine Network. Each week the Fetal Medicine and Pre-Term Birth Teams see up to 190 families requiring high-risk care pathways. Responsibilities for the successful candidates include managing in-utero transfers and high-risk pregnancy clinics, referral triage, bereavement care and supporting and facilitating invasive procedures and insertion of cervical cerclage.
