Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our growing Medicines Optimisation team. As a Clinical Pharmacy Technician with an interest in mental health you will join our well established team of pharmacists and technicians providing medicines optimisation support and advice to our acute adult inpatient wards and older people ward based at Torbay Hospital. Previous mental health experience is desired but not essential.
You will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of conditions and settings for delivering care and continue to challenge yourself to support our patients clinically facing.

Main Duties of the Job
The Clinical Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring inpatients are prioritised appropriately and high risk patients are identified and referred to the pharmacist. These include:
* the review of current prescribed medicines
* identify newly prescribed medicines
* screen physical health monitoring i.e. bloods to ensure the patient receives the best outcome around safe and effective use of medicines while in our service.
* Identify high risk medicines (clozapine, lithium, methotrexate etc)

* the review of current prescribed medicines
* identify newly prescribed medicines
* screen physical health monitoring i.e. bloods to ensure the patient receives the best outcome around safe and effective use of medicines while in our service.
* Identify high risk medicines (clozapine, lithium, methotrexate etc)
To assist the local Medicines Optimisation (MO) team in developing and delivering the clinical pharmacy service to ensure safe, therapeutic and cost effective use of medication on inpatient units and community teams.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* NVQ level 3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Accredited Medicine Optimisation Technician levels:
* Foundation - Unit 1
* Intermediate - Unit 2/2.1
* Advance - unit 3 Clinical Prioritisation
* Evidence of revalidation.
* MO knowledge including appropriate policies and legislation
* IT skills
Desirable
* Accredited checking technician.
* A1/D32/33 accredited NVQ assessor
* Aston PgCert Psychiatric Therapeutics
