I'm working with a public sector client who's looking to appoint a Business Systems Project Manager on a 6 month fixed term basis with potential to extend to 12 months.
Responsibilities:
Be responsible for managing all phases of the project lifecycle from project inception through to implementation for all new, replacement and upgrades to IT business systems.
Develop project strategy, project objectives and project scoping documents. Facilitate full cost/benefit analysis.
Engage stakeholders, create project organisation structure and a project communication framework.
Gain agreement from all relevant parties, including General Managers & Area Managers, Project Steering Group, Programme Board, Senior Leadership Team, Fire Authority.
Be responsible for managing all project meetings and workshops in line with the communications framework agreed for the project, including meeting preparation, chairing of meetings and producing meeting documentation.
Carry out management reporting at key stages of the project to all stake holder levels with the organisation and co-ordinate all service wide communications.
Manage the provision of high level test scenarios along with detailed test plans and ensure coverage and quality.
Manage all resources working as part of core project team. Coordinate user department resources and resources from other S&I teams.
Calculate project costs and agree budget with Senior Management. Manage project within agreed budget.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organisational skills and demonstrable project management and project planning skills
Good communication skills – ability to deliver clear written and verbal communications at all levels within the organisation and with 3rd parties, including
meeting management, presentations and delivery of training
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to and produce required project documentation and reports and review documentation created by others
Ability to manage, lead, motivate people, ensuring planning and delivery even under pressure
Excellent knowledge and experience of working with previous and current versions of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Excellent knowledge and experience of working with previous and current versions of a project planning tool
Experience / Knowledge
Managing large projects to deliver IT business systems through all phases of the project lifecycle, from project inception through to implementation (including both new business systems and upgrades to existing systems)
Development and testing of bespoke software solutions
High level project planning and detailed project planning (including estimating, tracking actuals, workload balancing, dependency management, re-planning based on actual progress)
Delivery of IT business system projects on time, on budget, meeting acceptance criteria and providing expected business benefits
Implementation of bespoke system solutions, customisable package solutions &/or off-the-shelf solutions provided by a 3rd party vendor
Effective handing of complex systems integrations and interfaces
Defining project strategies and objectives, project scope, tangible benefits analysis, project organisation structures and communication frameworks
Experience of working using traditional waterfall and Agile methodologies
Completing feasibility studies including cost benefit analysis, structured evaluation of solution & system design options from both technical and business perspective, considering all relevant criteria
Managing tendering and procurement processes
