The Main Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for the effective management, procurement, maintenance and strategy of the Knowles Transport fleet. Day to Day management of the engineering team within the Fleet department
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 year experience or qualification in motor mechanics such as City & Guilds Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or a BTEC National Certificate in Vehicle Repair and Technology
Management & Leadership qualification such as CMI or BTEC in Management or Relevant proven experience of leading and managing a team of Vehicle Mechanics
Excellent knowledge of LGV Vehicle technology and a strong interest in motor vehicles
Good verbal communication skills and excellent customer skills
Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
Experience working with trailers, hydraulic systems and electrical systems
Methodical, organised and able to work to strict deadlines
Ability to advise internal customers about technical issues
Good PC Skills, ability to use Microsoft Office packages
Must have own transport and full LGV UK driving licence Desirable Skills / Experience:
Repair and maintain different types of vehicles, such as lorries, trailers, vans, cars, fork-lift trucks They perform restorative and preventative work on gears, brakes, engine, air conditioning, security features, fuel pump, etc.
Performing the following tasks:
Inspect vehicles to MOT standard
Diagnose faults and rectify all types of faults
Service and repair vehicles or components using appropriate equipment and tools in a safe and economical manner
Maintain current product knowledge and attend training courses as required
Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
Carry out roadside assistance
Complete all paperwork as necessary
Ensure all aspects of H&S working practices are adhered to
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
Day to Day management of the Fleet Mechanical team including organisation of workload of planned maintenance and reactive maintenance, Training and Development of the team, Recruitment and Selection of the right skills within the team, Succession Planning and Performance & Absence management.
