Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional to join the innovative Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC) at NUH.
Successful candidates will support the delivery of holistic, high quality care to surgical patients at increased risk of adverse outcomes.
Main duties of the job
EPOC is a bespoke built unit, comprising of 10 beds cross-site of post-operative patients from a variety of specialties including Maxillofacial, ENT, HPB, Plastics, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Vascular, Upper GI, Urology, Orthopaedics, Spinal Surgery, Neurosurgery, Breast & Endocrine and Thoracics. Patients will be cared for at a higher level of care, 1.5, with staff caring for 2 patients each. This unit will have input from a variety of members from the Multi-Disciplinary team including Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Acute Pain Specialist Nurses, CCOT and Critical Care Pharmacists.

Training & Qualifications
Essential
* Current Level 1 NMC or HCPC part 1 registration
* Diploma / Degree in health or nursing related studies
Desirable
* Continuing professional development
* Possession of a mentoring course
* Undertaken further relevant study
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in recovery, critical care, surgical ward or similar clinical background
* Experience supervising non-registered staff and students
* Competent in medication administration and management
Desirable
* Experience of acute pain management
* Evidence of supporting junior staff members
* Experience in a link nurse role
* Previous project work
Communication & Relationship Skills
Essential
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good IT skills & able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
* Recognise own level of competence, limitations and learning needs and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
* Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team
