Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) has an exciting vacancy within our Apprenticeship Team to provide training and assessment for leadership and healthcare support worker apprenticeship programmes,
The key purpose of this role is to:
• Assess apprentice learning needs and prior learning
• Plan, deliver and assess individual programmes of learning to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours as defined by national apprenticeship standards
• Provide coaching and mentoring regarding leadership knowledge, skills and behaviours
• Demonstrate clinical and non-clinical procedures and processes, and assess these through professional discussions, and observations in the workplace.
This post is also offered as a development role, starting at Band 4 and leading to Band 5 when the competencies in the person specification have been achieved. Full training and support will be given.
The post holder will support and mentor apprentices with team leader responsibilities via face-to-face tutorials and other bespoke methods. You will also spend time within clinical settings providing coaching and feedback to Apprentice Healthcare Support Worker through assessing written assignments, professional discussions, and observations of practice, to enable them to be successful in their role and at their End Point Assessment.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced tutor with:
• Proven team leader experience
• Senior Healthcare Support Worker or similar clinical experience with a Level 3 qualification in Health or Health and Social Care (e.g. apprenticeship, diploma, A levels), and a relevant Foundation Degree (or be working towards)
• Maths and English qualifications - Functional Skills Level 2 /GCSE grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent
• Vocational competence in a wide range of clinical skills
• Previous assessing/teaching/training experience
• Assessor qualification
• Ability to communicate complex information and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• A passion for widening participation into healthcare roles. Encouraging, supporting, and championing NHS careers for all
• Knowledge of curriculum design and development
• Experience of working within an Ofsted-regulated organisation
plus
• A full driving licence and access to a car
HHFT has been a successful apprenticeship training provider offering training to new recruits and existing employees since 2018. In 2022 Ofsted rated us as a ‘Good’ provider and the provision has continued to attract national attention for making apprenticeships more accessible for people with needing additional learning support.
We are a multi-disciplinary team, working across a matrix of specialties and divisions. This enables us to deliver robust support to divisions to develop the future workforce. You will help our apprentices embed new knowledge and skills in the workplace, complete their care certificates (where appropriate), assist them to gather e-portfolio evidence, and make assessments of their competence by:
• Training and facilitation, including induction
• Providing career guidance for present and future prospects
• Carrying out activities to make sure all learner’s additional needs are assessed and supported
• Individualising training plans to meet needs
• One-to-one coaching and feedback sessions with apprentices
• Running tutorials and/or group sessions as needed
• Carrying out Progress Reviews with apprentices and their managers
• Efficient record keeping using electronic e-portfolio systems
• Marking assignments and observations in practice
• Preparing the learners for successful End Point Assessments.
