The Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stretches 84 miles through some of the most scenic landscapes in the UK. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Trail Maintenance Ranger to assist in the upkeep and conservation of the trail, ensuring it remains safe, accessible, and beautiful for visitors from around the world.
* Fixed term contract to 31.3.27
* Working 5 days per week from April to September and 3 days per week from October to March. Must be available to start work by early April 2025.
* Based at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre, Bardon Mill, Northumberland

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate person to join our team. You’ll work alongside the trail maintenance ranger on a broad range of tasks across the national trail, from coast to coast, and gain lots of skills and experience along the way. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of this extraordinary cultural and natural landscape.
You will play a vital role in the upkeep and improvement of the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, ensuring its accessibility, safety, and enjoyment for all visitors.
You will require:
* Qualification (or working towards) in countryside management
* Experience in practical maintenance or habitat management tasks
* Physically fit for the stated tasks and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
* Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with the public
* Ability to travel to sites in order to fulfil the requirements of the role
