Food Technology Teacher - SEMH Provision

Leader Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a specialist SEMH provision for students aged 11-16 in Wakefield. This is a fantastic opportunity for an educator who is committed to inspiring young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them develop essential life skills through food education.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
* Teach practical cooking skills while embedding key curriculum knowledge, including nutrition and food safety.
* Foster a supportive and structured classroom environment that encourages confidence and creativity.
* Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and diverse learning needs.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to implement holistic, cross-curricular learning.
* Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive and restorative approaches that promote personal growth.
* Maintain records of student progress and liaise with parents, carers, and senior staff on their development.
* Ensure all health and safety regulations and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
* Experience teaching Food Technology (or a related subject) in a secondary or SEND/SEMH setting.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students with diverse needs.
* A commitment to inclusive education and supporting students' personal development.
* A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
