Job Overview
We invite applications from experienced Occupational Therapists to join the Tier 4 Inpatient Unit, Sunflower House service at Alder Hey. We welcome applications from experienced Band 5 and Band 6 Occupational Therapists with a background in Paediatrics or Acute therapy.
As part of this job offer, Sunflower House will pay for the successful candidate to attend Sensory Integration training as part of their continuous professional development (CPD).
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide OT assessment, treatment, review and evaluation for children on the ward, in out-patient settings and in the child’s own home/school.
* Manage own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working with and without direct supervision.
* Work in partnership with other health professionals, parents, carers, education and other service providers to ensure a child-centred approach to therapy.
* Organize caseload effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time.
* Provide cover to other areas of service as necessary to support other team members. Occasional weekend working may be required.
* Support senior therapists with service development, take an active role in Governance and provide supervision and support to junior staff and students.

Clinical
* Provide occupational therapy assessments for children with various conditions.
* Plan and implement occupational therapy treatment programmes, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
* Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
* Manage your own caseload of children with support and supervision from senior team members.
* Adopt a client-centred and sensitive approach to therapy, collaborating with children, parents and/or carers and education staff.
* Demonstrate knowledge of typical child development and the impact of disability on children and their families.
* Make referrals to appropriate health professionals and paediatric services as appropriate.
* Adopt a multi-disciplinary way of working.
* Provide occupational therapy reports as appropriate, ensuring all correspondence relating to caseload is dealt with promptly.

Person Specification
