LivewellSouthwest are looking for an experienced HCPC registered prosthetist to join the prosthetics rehabilitation team based in Plymouth. Due to a development opportunity for the current post holder, there is a vacancy for a prosthetist to join the team in a permanent position in the role of prosthetics clinical lead. As an independent in-house provider, working for Livewell Southwest will provide the opportunity to collaborate with the full range of prosthetic suppliers to deliver optimal solutions for the patients you work with.
You will lead a team of 4 prosthetists, providing clinical leadership as well as managing your own complex caseload. You will undertake true MDT working, supported by a consultant, specialist physiotherapists, specialist nurse, clinical and administrative support, and a team of on-site prosthetic technicians with a full manufacturing facility. You will be involved with pre-amputation assessment, primary patient MDT consultation, and lifelong prosthetic provision, collaborating with the whole team to provide holistic solutions across the full range of amputation levels and congenital limb difference. The clinical lead role will also provide the opportunity to lead on research, audit, and governance for the service, driving development and quality of service provision.

Main duties of the job
1. Provide Clinical Leadership to a team of 4 prosthetists, including line management of team members.
2. Provide leadership to the wider clinical team, leading on governance and development activities.
3. Act as a mentor.
4. In the absence of the service manager, be responsible for day-to-day management of the team.
5. Manage a complex prosthetic caseload, providing holistic, evidence-based care.
6. Lead and participate in pre-amputation consultations.
7. Have joint clinical responsibility for the prosthetic profession within the organisation.
8. Be the ultimate arbiter for second opinions and items requested outside of prescription guidelines.
9. Provide the lead prosthetic clinical input to the MDT and give clinical and professional advice regarding appropriate prosthetic provision for patients.
10. Facilitate the implementation of relevant care pathways.
11. Identify, develop, and implement relevant clinical competency frameworks and essential training for the prosthetic service.
12. Develop, maintain, and manage the implementation of robust prescription guidelines to maximise budget.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc Hons Prosthetics/Orthotics or equivalent
* HCPC Registration
* Postgraduate education/CPD relating to specialist prosthetic provision - some to MSc level
* MSc in relevant subject
* Member of BAPO
Experience
* Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience in clinical prosthetics practice
* Demonstrable exposure to a wide range of highly specialist clinical prosthetic practice
* Managing a clinical caseload that includes complex cases and a range of age groups
* Detailed knowledge of medical device products and technologies relevant to clinical practice.
* Fully competent in all areas of Prosthetic clinical practice
* Training of clinical and technical staff
* Experience of effective MDT working
* Experience of Audit/Research
* Involvement in service improvement/redesign
* Highly Specialist clinical assessment skills
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to change
* Ability to communicate complex information to patients and carers including children and those with learning disabilities, mental illness or psychological distress/disturbance.
* Minimum 5 years post-qualification clinical practice
* Working knowledge of ISO9000 quality management system
