Senior/Principal Electronic Design Engineer

Due to the growth of the business area, Leonardo have an opportunity for an Electronic Design Engineer to join our Sensors Team.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organisation.
If successful, you will be joining a dedicated multi-disciplined Integrated Project Team (IPT) with a full and stretching workload presenting vast potential for personal growth and professional development.
What you will do
Supporting our precision guidance (PG) programmes, you will support new designs undertaking the following activities:
1. Requirement definition and support to generation of verification plans
2. Electronic design analysis, circuit simulation and prototyping
3. Electronic schematic capture and PCB layout support
4. Power supply and interface circuit design for digital processors and microcontrollers
5. High-speed digital design - including FPGA, DDR and high speed LVDS video designs
6. Testing and debugging of electronic circuits
7. Development of subsystem engineering solutions and specifications
8. Cabling and connector specifications
9. Integration and Verification of System and Sub-Systems
10. Support to Qualification (including EMC)
11. Production and Delivery support
What you really must have:
1. Knowledge and experience of all stages of the engineering development lifecycle
2. Digital & Analogue Electronic design knowledge
3. Board level PCB design (ideally using Siemens EDA Xpedition Enterprise)
4. Operating at the product system level
5. Specifying and defining COTS items
6. Working with subcontract suppliers
7. Specifying cable and connector solutions
8. System level integration
9. Ability to make technical decisions within own sphere of responsibility
10. Willingness to work proactively within a fast moving and dynamic environment
It would be nice if you had:
1. Safety, Security and other legislative constraints knowledge
2. Domain experience in Electronics Warfare and Thermal Imaging Systems
You must be capable of achieving full SC security clearance and will require access to caveated information such as UK eyes only.
