Job Description:
We are St Helens Borough Council
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a modernising Council which is passionate and ambitious for the children and families we support, our communities and our workforce. As part of our transformation journey, we continue to build on our progress and put children firmly at the centre of our care. We can only do this because of our highly valued, skilled, and supported workforce.
The Licensing Services team is a busy service that is part of the wider regulatory services comprised of Environmental Health and Trading Standards. The team issues thousands of licences every year to pubs, clubs, taxis, scrap metal merchants, wedding venues, and gambling establishments. The work is complex but rewarding and requires a keen eye for detail as every document we issue is part of a legal framework.
As a Licensing Services Assistant, you will be responsible for processing enquiries and verifying that the correct evidence documentation is in place, as well as taking payments. You will be issuing licences, vehicle plates, and identification badges, and when trained, will have your own client base. The Licensing Services team also processes all local land search enquiries as part of our legal administrative duties.
You will form part of a small team that delivers these services, which are crucial to the clients they serve. If you like being busy, enjoy working with the public, and are comfortable working across a multi-discipline service, then this could be the role for you.
