Experience: Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Early Years
Salary: £14.30ph / £20,000PA
Hours : Your normal working hours during term time only, 08.00-16.15 (34 weeks per year), plus INSET days as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Have a sound knowledge and experience of the EYFS.
* Ensure you are familiar with all key policies and procedures.
* To ensure that when leaving the room for other activities or purposes that your team are aware of where you are going and the duration.
* When leaving the room to ensure that it will not compromise the existing staff or impose undue pressure on their abilities to perform the childcare.
* To proactively encourage the continual development of best practice.
* Proactively contribute to effective team working and foster open and honest communication amongst all employees within Lyndhurst School.
* Commit to on-going personal learning and development and attend on and off-the-job training as appropriate.
* Work in partnership with early years professionals, for example Health Visitors and SEND services and assist with the implementation of Individual Support plans.
* Contribute to Early Years meetings.
* Attend and take part in INSET staff meetings and Early Years staff meetings.
* Ensure all jobs are performed in line with the demands for the beginning and end of the day.
* Maintain confidentiality and exercise tact as needed.
Childcare and Curriculum Responsibilities:
* To deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and any other appropriate. guidance for young children in accordance with Lyndhurst School’s policies and guidelines.
* Observe each of your key children’s progress and report on achievements, looking for progression and continuity alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Ensure that each individual child is supported and challenged in their personal and academic development.
* Help to prepare, maintain and use a range of resources and activities to support the children’s development towards achieving the EYFS objectives.
* Ensure your own key children learning journeys are up to date and maintained at the required quality level.
* Ensure you have a clear understanding of the settling of new children into Little Lyndhurst.
* Ensure that you attend to the all-round daily needs of the children by enhancing their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
* Support the children in being responsible for their own drinks and snacks and encourage good nutrition and sociable eating.
* Assist children with personal care, assist with toileting and other associated welfare duties.
* Ensure that you help to maintain an attractive, stimulating and reassuring environment for children inside and outside.
* Welcome new parents into Little Lyndhurst.
* Deal with accidents and incidents and inform parents.
Parent and Carer Responsibilities:
* Work in partnership with parents/carers, recognising that parents are their children’s first educators, and encourage parental involvement in their child’s development.
* Assist and attend regular parents' meetings and open mornings.
* Provide feedback and daily reports to parents about their child’s day.
* Inform parents when their child is sick or not their normal self.
* Ensure you know what is going on at home that may have an effect on the child’s behaviour or mood.
* Be vigilant and diplomatic if you feel that there is a safeguarding or protection issue pertinent to the child. Inform the DSL/DDSL if in doubt.
* Understand the cultural, religious, ethical or personal preference issues that some parents may have in relation to their child.
* Keep the Deputy Head / Headmaster informed
Room and Premises Responsibilities
* To ensure the room is kept tidy and organised to allow for the efficient use of time and to maintain the high-quality standards that we have set as our on-going objective.
* To ensure resources, toys and equipment are organised, stored correctly, cleaned regularly and any breakages reported to the Room Lead. To support the Room Lead with an on-going resource plan.
* To clean obvious marks or spillages (doors, floors, walls etc.) as soon as they happen, within reason.
* To ensure any signs pictures or displays that are fixed to the wall are tidy, appropriate and in keeping with Lyndhurst standards.
* To assist in making sure rooms and corridors are left tidy and cleared away at the end of the day.
* To ensure when using messy play items, it is cleaned up immediately after the activity.
* Displays changed regularly and in line with themes.
* Ensure everything in the room that needs to be, is appropriately labelled.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
* Maintain the safety and security of all children.
* Understand and abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
* Always ensure the cleanliness of the children.
* Ensure attendance registers are kept correctly.
