Copello have partnered with an established Defence Services business based in Fareham, in the recruitment of a Head of HR to report into the CEO as part of the Executive team.
The Head of HR will provide leadership for the Human Resources, Employee Engagement & Communications and Business Support functions. This is a strategically important position responsible for all aspects of HR, and is a generalist role responsible for developing and implementing an effective HR strategy and activities that support the business and corporate objectives.
Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
* Foster behaviours with all of the HR Team to enable the business to recruit, retain and motivate high quality and high performing staff at all levels.
* Be the functional leader of Human Resources, Employee Engagement & Communication and Business Support disciplines
* Work closely with the Finance Director and Commercial and Service Delivery Director.
* Maintain an ongoing dialogue with the CEO and Executive, alerting any significant risks or issues.
* Ensure the timely provision of all contractual and executive reports and other information required by customers, Executive Team, Board, and other stakeholders.
* Ensure that employment policy and processes are in line with relevant laws and regulations.
* Provide professional guidance, advice and coaching to managers and business leaders on employment law and its application.
* Provide advice to managers and business leaders on the interpretation and use of the Business’ people policies including disciplinary, grievance, attendance management, performance management, performance reviews, recruitment, career progression, redundancy and redeployment.
* Effectively support the management of any personal cases e.g. discipline and grievance or settlement agreements through to effective conclusion.
* Proactively engage in all aspects of people and organisational change.
* Lead on restructuring activities in the planning and execution of individual and collective processes.
* Lead and develop the People Strategy (People Plan).
* Be capable of defining and implementing improvement programmes and be accountable for the achievement of their deliverables
* Deliver, communicate and embed transformational projects within the People Plan, to include EVP, L&D, Well-being, D&I and

* The ability to think strategically, anticipate future developments and establish appropriate action plans to ensure that the HR department have the skills and experience to execute the work required.
* Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to build and manage relationships across the company and at all levels whilst providing robust challenge when required.
* The self-motivation to address a wide range of competing business challenges using a flexible and collaborative approach.
The role is being offered on a permanent basis with flexible and remote working. On offer is a salary up to £86K, plus bonus and attractive benefits package
