About the role
National Energy System Operator’s (NESO) strength lies in our people. Together, we’re shaping the future where clean, affordable energy is accessible for all. Every day is an opportunity to make a real difference, accelerating the progress of sustainable GB energy, keeping people connected and society thriving as we create a brighter tomorrow.
The Network Planning Review project is a key part of the NESO’s plan to facilitate net zero. This exciting project works in collaboration with Ofgem’s Electricity Transmission Network Planning Review (ETNPR) to transform our network planning processes.
This review of our network planning processes will ensure that network design and investment processes in GB are fit for the future. If we are to meet our ambitious decarbonisation targets, the pace and scale of our Electricity Network planning processes must change. We are therefore moving away from an annual network planning assessment cycle to a new Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSNP).
In this team, you’ll be able to see your work contribute to an exciting new holistic planning process, and play your part in developing a low carbon future.
This role is based in Warwick and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
About you
We’re forging the path, and we know we can’t do it alone. That’s why we need visionary minds like yours to join us on this transformative journey. In this case, we’re looking for someone who:
* Knowledge of the GB electricity transmission network, including power system operation, Grid Code and Security and Quality of Supply Standards (SQSS)
* Knowledge of the existing network planning process, for example Network Options Assessment (NOA) and Connections processes
* Familiarity with power system simulation packages such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD and integrated scripting functionality to automate analysis and program development.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex technical information.
* Proven ability to build relationships and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communicator with excellent writing skills.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £45000 – £74000 p.a. – dependent on experience and capability.
