Job Overview We are currently seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated DSU2 Theatre Team. Good communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and fast paced environment is a requirement. Experience within an Operating Theatre or hospital environment is desirable but not essential. Training, support and development is given by each of the Theatre teams. This vacancy is linked to a Level 2 Apprenticeship. This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role. Working alongside the Trust’s experienced staff you will be supported to gain the apprenticeship qualification and functional skills in maths and English if required. This is a great opportunity to gain a national recognised qualification while you are working and earning, which will support you in both this role and in your future career at Frimley Health. You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar qualification. Applications are for full time 37.5 hours worked over 3/4 days, doing 07:30 - 19:30 shifts from Monday to Friday. Applicants should be willing to do cross-site working with Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital if required. Main duties of the job A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in Operating Theatres works as part of the multidisciplinary team. They assist setting up Theatres and preparing the Theatre and patient for surgery, as well as assisting the Theatre practitioners and surgical team during surgical procedures with equipment, instruments and patient care. Main Duties Include To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team. To undertake any necessary housekeeping if required to ensure a suitable Theatre environment. Participate in providing physical and psychological support to the patient. To assist the surgical team with assigned tasks. To adhere to policies regarding confidentiality. Your role will include: Preparation of Operating Theatres for surgery. Setting up equipment, instruments, inputting data onto computers. Cleaning and maintaining the Theatres and store areas.
