Their ideal candidate will have a manufacturing background and understand stock management, business partnering with stakeholders to drive operational performance, often through cost recommendations. The role is based on a 3-day on-site and 2-day remote working pattern, with an early finish on Fridays, offering a competitive salary depending on experience.
Job Title: Management Accountant
Reports to: Financial Director
Location: North Lanarkshire
Position Overview:
This role focuses on supporting the financial health of the business through effective planning, control, and reporting, enabling informed strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with management and departments to deliver financial support, reporting, and analysis
2. Serve as the primary contact for auditors and accountants during year-end processes
3. Prepare management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
4. Communicate financial insights to non-financial managers and leadership
5. Perform month-end close tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
6. Conduct financial analysis to support profitability and growth
7. Value stock at month-end and participate in stock counts
8. Support budget and forecast preparations with departments
9. Analyze product costs, support pricing strategies, and new product development
10. Manage cash operations and cash flow forecasting
11. Oversee debt and fixed asset management
12. Recommend and implement improvements in financial systems and procedures
13. Identify cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies
14. Conduct internal audits for compliance
15. Complete statutory statistical surveys
16. Submit VAT returns
The Individual
This role is suitable for a part-qualified, qualified, or QBE accountant with manufacturing experience. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, proactive, and capable of bringing best practices to improve financial processes.
Key Requirements:
* Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA), part-qualified, or QBE
* Experience in management information and financial analysis
* Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
* Background in a similar finance role preferred
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
* Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and work independently or in a team
