Physiotherapy Team Leader - City Physiotherapy Gym

This is an opportunity to work at band 7 level leading the outpatient team within the OP Physiotherapy Service on the City Campus for a 9 month fixed term (or secondment with line manager's permission) to cover a maternity leave.
The post holder will lead and manage a team of physiotherapists to deliver high quality evidence-based assessment and treatment skills to rehabilitate musculoskeletal patients, who will have a wide variety of lower limb musculoskeletal conditions. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential to effectively interact with patients and the physiotherapy team. You will need to understand relevant conditions and pain, and be able to explain this to other staff and your patients. Teaching others will be part of your role, and training will be provided as required.
You will need to be able to work rostered weekends and be part of the HIT process for short notice cover. NUH supports 7 day working, and you will be required to work flexibly across 7 days and across campus as needed to meet the needs of therapy services.
Main Duties of the Job

About Us
Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver high quality care.
Our HCPC registered AHP professionals include physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists, and speech and language therapists. Other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical staff, and support workers.
We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

Job Responsibilities
The following is a brief overview of clinical responsibilities:
1. Undertake evidence-based assessment of patients, having a flexible approach to care delivery.
2. Develop evidence-based holistic treatment plans for individuals with complex needs, enabling individuals, carers, and families to contribute.
3. Establish effective working relationships and communicate with the wider MDT, patients, families, and carers.
4. Provide team leadership and manage appropriately using leadership and management skills and Trust policies.
5. Proactively advocate for patients with complex needs.
6. Promote self-management and empower patients to make choices about their future management.
7. Have overall responsibility for managing a complex clinical caseload.
8. Liaise with clinical colleagues regarding patient needs prior to transfer of care.
Person Specification
Professional Registration
* HCPC registration and number.
* Experience of post-registration education in specialist clinical areas with evidence of maintaining professional competence through CPD.
* Wide range and extensive experience of working within relevant specialist areas.
Experience of Staff Management
* Experience in leadership/management of staff, including performance management, sickness management, and recruitment.
Knowledge of Current Best Practice
* Knowledge of and ability to understand, evaluate, and lead in the implementation of current best practice.
* Experience of leading service and clinical developments utilizing audit, research, and patient involvement.
Ability to Communicate
* Ability to communicate complex information and maintain effective relationships using a range of communication skills and styles with patients and staff.
Ability to Problem Solve
* Ability to assess complex information to problem solve and formulate clinical and strategic plans.
* Ability to organize and prioritize workload of staff and self, with effective delegation and time management skills.
