JOB PURPOSE A fantastic opportunity has now arisen as we are actively seeking to recruit a Sales Account Manager to join our Sales team at our Head Office in Whitchurch & Satellite Office in Andover. Your task will be to help grow our business by providing a smooth interface between R E Thompson and its customers. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Commercially astute, self-motivated and confident in securing/increasing orders with existing and new customers. Conduct research to identify new markets and generate new client accounts. Identifies opportunities to grow business with existing clients Prepare estimates based on customer engineering data. Build long term profitable relationships with customers. Coordinate with staff members working on the same account to ensure consistent service. Comfortable working in a KPI led environment. Responsible for weekly sales figures updates against agreed targets. Use of a MRP system to facilitate the input of customer sales orders. Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction. Arrange business meetings with prospective clients. Promote the company’s capabilities / services addressing clients’ objectives. Prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines. Provide trustworthy feedback and after sales support. Build long term relationships with new and existing customers Use the MRP system to facilitate the input of Purchase orders or customer returns, and to find specific information on the database. To ensure that the financial rewards from a successful bid are in line with the company’s expectations. Liaise with sub-contractors and request quotations. Maintain a working knowledge of law-established rules and guidelines. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Essential Background in Machining/ Precision Engineering Previous experience as an accounts manager, business development manager, sales executive, in mechanical engineering Demonstrable experience of B2B sales A Valid UK Driving license Proven ability to understand the complexities of prismatic machining/turning and sub-contract operations of a part. Able to conduct statistical analysis and compile estimates, plans and forecasts A Valid UK Driving license for visits to clients Desirable Existing business contacts Previous experience in engineering Use of 3D Modelling Viewer Market knowledge within the sub-contract machining market, particularly Aerospace and Defence BSc/BA in Business, sales or relevant field, a second European language KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills for client relations Tenacity to seek new business from existing and new accounts Driven to achieve/exceed sales targets Exceptional communication skills; both verbally and in writing Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels Proven capability to work well as part of a team and a collaborative approach to work Highly organised, able to generate coherent activity plans, visit reports and update the Head of Sales on a weekly basis Proven capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Confident in their own abilities, strong analytical skills, and proficient at undertaking research to manage sales and generate new business Proficiency in MS Office and the capability to learn the use of new software Good time management and planning skills Able to work under pressure and to deadlines Organised and structured approach.
