Our Pathology service is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Genomics Coordinator to join the Cellular Pathology and Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service at University Hospital Southampton (UHS). This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient coordination of molecular and genomic testing services within Cellular Pathology and Genomics, supporting the integration of cutting-edge molecular diagnostics into patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
-Coordinate and oversee genomic and molecular testing workflows.
-Act as a key liaison between laboratory teams, clinicians, and external stakeholders.
-Ensure compliance with national genomic testing guidelines and quality assurance processes.
-Monitor turnaround times, manage referrals, and maintain accurate records for audit and quality assurance purposes.
-Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives within the Wessex Genomic Laboratory Hub.
-Assist with training and education of staff in genomic and molecular pathology techniques to processes.

What experience/skills are needed
-Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy skills demonstrable to GSCE pass level or equivalent standard.
-Experience as a medical or patient services secretary linked to a clinical service or experience of working in pathology
-Knowledge of medical terminology
-Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience.
-Administrative and organisational experience
-Excellent telephone / communication skills.
-Willingness to undertake training
-Flexibility – able to work flexibly to accommodate peaks and troughs of activity.
-Experience of data entry where accuracy and speed are essential
