Job Description:
Working Hours: Part Time (18.5 hours per week)
Basis: Permanent
Department: Legal Services (Law & Democracy)
We are looking for two talented and enthusiastic individuals to join us within our in-house Legal Services team.
As part of the Law & Democracy team, we are responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across all the council’s activities and functions, ensuring statutory compliance and effective governance. The team also manages the council’s democratic processes, including committee administration and councillor support, together with delivering transparent and efficient elections.
Our two part-time solicitors will jointly provide expert in-house legal services (both contentious and non-contentious) across a broad spectrum of matters, including contracts, conveyancing, prosecutions, and litigation. They will enjoy working primarily in a generalist role, embracing a variety of tasks, while contributing expertise in any specific, transferable areas of law and practice relevant to local government.
If you have strong legal acumen, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, client-focused services in a politically dynamic and engaging environment, we would love to hear from you.
At Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, we are proud of our diversity and recognise the value this brings. We are fair and inclusive and welcome applications from people with different backgrounds.
We guarantee an interview with anyone who is a reservist or veteran and meets the criteria for this role.
Closing Date: 31 December 2024
To apply for this role you must complete our online application form (CVs will not be accepted).
If you have not heard from us within 14 days of your application, please assume your application has not been successful on this occasion.
